As you will have gathered from recent correspondence we are holding a referendum evening on the above date which was intended to be a debate but for which I am unable to unearth an “acceptable” adversary for Chris. As we will be lucky enough to have his company that evening I did not wish to dilute proceedings with a “weak opponent” because our members are more than able to provide sensible and testing questions to our MP
By the way I would like to thank the many members who have suggested Non Brexiteers to oppose Chris all of which I am afraid have come to nought.
As we have our half yearly dinner some five weeks after the above date and it is a purely in house affair we have decided to keep the cost down by providing a finger buffet at a cost of £15.50 per head. Members can purchase their own drinks from the bar. Proceedings will start at 7.00pm for 7.30pm and dress will be smart casual including a jacket and Club tie for members
I am sorry that we are crowding you with events but we do not of course have any control over the timing of the referendum. A goodly number of you have expressed an interest in a question and answer session with Chris and I hope you will give your support to this event for which you have had such short notice.
If you are not aware, you may be interested that News night is presenting a series of programmes about Brexit. Last night it was essentially Grayling v Mandleson. The latter gerrymandered, he is such an “odious individual”, but Chris managed to get his points across although Evan Davis gave him a rough time. I guess the forthcoming programmes will be worth watching.
The usual slip is attached for return to David Collins. If you have any questions which you would like to table in advance of the meeting I am sure Chris would welcome some prior notice and these should also be sent to David
