Our Annual Dinner is due to take place at the RAC on the date shown and this letter constitutes an invitation to you and a partner(s) if you so desire. Our speaker is the Rt Hon John Whittingdale OBE who is the MP for Maldon in Essex and was until Mrs May’s recent Cabinet reshuffle the secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.
The Dinner is of course free for Members of the 1964 Club being part of their membership entitlement. Tickets for guests are priced at £97.50 being a significant reduction upon the price compared to our last two Dinners at Livery Companies. Coaches will be laid on both ways at an additional cost of £10 per person.
The Black Tie evening will commence with a reception in the Mountbatten room on the first floor at Pall Mall at 7.00pm followed at 7.30pm by a five course meal including wine. Carriages will be approximately 10.15 pm which should ensure a return to Ashtead – the coach pick up point by around 11.15pm.
The splendid menu which we have arranged with the RAC, is shown below.
Pan-seared foie gras, pain d’epice, Tokai and orange reduction
Medallion of Cornish turbot, champagne veloute, melted leeks and lobster turnover
Cannon of lamb, garden pea brule, roasted shallots, petit vegetables, herb-roasted fondant potato, roasting juices and mint foam

This will be my second and last Dinner as Chairman of the Club and I really look forward to seeing as many of the friendly faces I have come to know during my period in office.
