Members of the 1964 Club enjoyed getting together for drinks, dinner and conversation. Our President Chris Grayling gave us an insight into the turmoil that has enveloped the political scene over the past year. He gave us some cause for optimism that stability is returning and he was cautiously optimistic that the party will demonstrate competent government over the next few years and will be able to offer a compelling case for voters in the next election. Members found much to talk about over a delicious dinner and after the AGM formalities were completed, our Chairman Steve Whiteway reminded us of the legacy of previous labour administrations and provided reasons to want to avoid any repeat. Thanks were given to Tony Burgess who has served on the committee for many years, including as Chairman, and has now stepped down. We are fortunate that Ed McGuinness has joined the committee. His CV can be seen here on the people area of the 1964 Club website.
