As a New Year tonic, we are holding a very special 1964 Club Dinner, with our Guest Speaker Andrew Sharpe, who will be giving his:-
“Insider reflections on a tumultuous year in the Conservative party!”
“Andrew is Chairman of the National Conservative Convention. The National Convention (NC) is the organisation that represents the Conservative Associations at the centre of the party, in which capacity Andrew is also Deputy Chairman of the Party Board. The NC can date its antecedents back as far as 1867 when the National Union of Conservative and Constitutionalist Associations was set up in the wake of the Second Reform Act. Andrew has served at every level of the voluntary party starting as Chairman of Epsom & Ewell CA, and has now been Chairman of the Convention for 18 months. Over that time he has had to deliver a petition of No Confidence to one Prime Minister, orchestrate the leadership hustings of another and is now in the thick of the General Election. As the Chinese say: "May you live in interesting times”! Andrew was appointed OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in June 2018 “for voluntary political service.”
With a general election behind us, Andrew’s insight promises a unique perspective behind the scenes, in what will I am sure, be recorded in posterity as one of the most tumultuous times since the 2nd World War.
The function is being held at the Police Federation Headquarters and will begin with a reception at 7.00 pm, followed by Dinner at 7.30 pm. The price of a ticket is £39 per person and guests are warmly welcomed. With the festive season ahead, I urge you to book quickly with our Hon Sec, David Collins. The Dinner will be held at the Police Federation in Leatherhead.
